THE REASON FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Many people celebrate Valentine's Day with no knowledge of what it's all about. They seem not to understand the reason behind it. ST Valentine Day is celebrated on February 14 of each year; the reason why it is celebrated on this day is because this was the day that Patron Saint of Lovers ST Valentine was executed.
At the time of Valentine's life ,many Romans were converting to Christianity but the Emperor Claudius II was a pagan and created strict laws about what Christians were allowed to do.Claudius believed that Romans soldiers should be completely devoted to Rome and therefore passed a law preventing them from marrying.St Valentine began to organise marriages for these soldiers in secret Christian ceremonies and this was the beginning of his reputation for believing in the importance of love.
Eventually Valentine was found out and jailed for his crimes against Claudius. Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners. He cared for his jailor's blind daughter and his final act before he was executed was to write her a love message signed 'from your Valentine'. Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270.200 years later,14th of February was proclaimed ST. Valentine's Day.
Conclusively, Valentine 's Day is a way of spoiling your loved one at work or home with roses, gift hamper, champagne and chocolates to delight your love!
